White County Gets 8 New Vehicles for SRO’s

Jul 25, 2024 | 12:20 PM

The White County Sheriff’s Office has announced the delivery of 8 new Ford Explorers for their School Resource Officers (SROs), made possible through the state’s SRO grant. This grant covers everything from salaries, training, uniforms, and equipment, up to $75,000 per school. The Sheriff’s Office say this fleet upgrade did not cost the county anything. Additionally, the grant covers all the striping and equipment installations, ensuring these vehicles are fully prepared for service.

The new vehicles will replace the department’s oldest and most unreliable vehicles, some of which were over 15 years old and had more than 200,000 miles on them. The replaced vehicles will be sold on GovDeals.com, and the funds will be used to purchase additional vehicles for the White County Sheriff’s Office. (Photo courtesy WCSO Facebook page)
