Local races were officially decided in Thursday’s Cumberland County General Election

Voting in Thursday’s County General Election was a matter of formality as there were no locally contested races. Wiley Potter will be taking the seat of Dewey Walker in the 1^st District. Walker stepped down in May after moving out of the district. Kelli Tipton Buchannon will be the Assessor of Property, Scott VanWinkle will take over the 2^nd District Board of Education seat, Anita Hale will retain her board seat in the 4^th District, Chris King will also return to the school board representing the 6^th District and Travis Cole will take over representation of the Board of Education’s 8^th District.
