A North Carolina truck driver was fatally injured in a fiery crash early Thursday morning (8/1/2024) on I-40 in Cumberland County. It happened around 4:45am at the 325 westbound mile marker.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 60-year-old Donald B. Hill was driving west in a 2023 Freightliner Cascadia when it ran off the right side of the roadway into the ditch. The semi went up an embankment, struck a fence and trees, and overturned. The truck then caught fire and burned.
Mr. Hill died from his injuries.
