According to a press release from Roane State Athletics, Roane State’s newest sport, women’s soccer, held its first practice on August 1, 2024, ahead of the inaugural season for the team.

Incoming players and coaching staff gathered at the college’s flagship campus in Harriman, utilizing a temporary field across from the Dunbar Building for this first practice.

The soccer schedule starts with two away games, the first at Johnson University in Knoxville on August 20, 2024. The first home game for Lady Raiders Soccer is set for August 28, 2024, at 6pm ET against Bryan College.

David Lane, Roane State’s director of athletics said, “Admission is free, so we are asking every student, faculty member, staff member, and fan to join us as we cheer on the Lady Raiders Soccer team for the very first time at Roane State.”

Donnie Green was named head coach for the women’s soccer team earlier this year. He was joined by Nathan Worley as assistant coach.
