Multiple agencies responded Friday night (8/16/24) to rescue an injured fisherman at Rock Island State Park. According to the Central View Volunteer Fire Department-Walling/Quebeck/Mt. Gilead, the White County E911 Center alerted volunteers shortly before 9pm. Members of the Doyle Volunteer Fire Department, Sparta Rescue Squad and White County EMS also arrived to find the angler approximately 20 feet down a bluff near the river. A rope system was used in the rescue and the patient was safely transported out of the wilderness to the awaiting ambulance and then transported by LIFE FORCE Air Medical to a hospital in the Nashville area.
