Weather-Related Fatalities Rise to 8 in Tennessee, at Least 46 Still Missing as of Tuesday, October 1, 2021

On Tuesday (10/1/24), the Tennessee Department of Health  confirmed eight weather-related fatalities.

Two in Cocke County

One in Knox County

One in Johnson County

Three in Unicoi County

One in Washington County

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reports at least 46 people are considered missing.  This number does not represent the total of unaccounted individuals, just public leads that still need to be cleared. Seven people are missing in Carter County, 7 in Johnson county, 7 in Unicoi County and 25 people remain unaccounted for other counties in Tennessee.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation continues to to work to improve connectivity and make infrastructure repairs in Upper East Tennessee. Forty-seven routes have been assessed with 25 repaired and reopened. Before you go out, check road conditions on TDOT’s SmartWay website.
