The 2024-25 college football season came to a close for the Tennessee Volunteers after a crushing defeat to Ohio State in the First Round of the College Football Playoffs. Tennessee fell to the Buckeyes with a final of 42-17.
Tennessee’s only touchdowns came from two Nico Iamaleava rushing touchdowns. Nico only threw for 104 yards while star running back Dylan Sampson only rushed for 6 yards on 2 carries after dealing with an injury. Ohio State’s Will Howard threw for 311 yards with 2 touchdowns.
The Tennessee Volunteers end their season with a 10-3 record with wins coming against Chattanooga, North Carolina State, Kent State, Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi State, UTEP, and Vanderbilt. The Vols three losses came against Arkansas, Georgia, and Ohio State. Tennessee ends their season ranked 7th in the country according to the College Football Playoff Committee.
Tennessee will start their 2025 season on August 30th, 2025 in a neutral site game against the Syracuse Orange in Atlanta Georgia.
