A Fairfield Glade man learned two hard lessons recently. First, if it’s too good to be true…then it’s not true. Second, anytime someone asks you to pay a debt with a gift card it is always a scam. The victim told the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office that he was trying to buy a used car online and had paid with five $100 Apple gift cards. Then he realized he had been cheated out of his $500. The victim told police he should have known better because it was too good of a deal. He also said that the clerk at Walgreens who sold him the gift cards had told him to watch out for scams.
