Another tragic house fire has claimed the life of an Overton County child.
Rickman Volunteer Fire Chief Spencer Curd said the call went out shortly before 10am Tuesday (11/18/2025) and firefighters arrived at the home off Rickman Monterey Highway to find a mother and infant who had escaped onto the roof, however, her toddler was missing. Sheriff’s Deputies got the mother and baby down and they were transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Firefighters were unable to save the 3-year-old boy, who died from smoke inhalation.
This is the second deadly fire involving children in Overton County in less than a week. On Saturday, November 15th, a 3-year-old and 7-year-old were killed in a house fire in Livingston.
Both fires are still under investigation.
