The Cumberland County Commission voted 16-0 to approve an Energy Siting Agreement with Nashville-based Silicon Ranch, which operates over 150 solar projects across 15 states, for a proposed solar farm. Because the county lacked the legal authority to stop the project, the commission chose to secure local protections rather than letting development proceed unregulated. The approval included $230,000 in community benefit fees and other construction requirements. In other business, the commission approved easement deeds at the downtown courthouse to support Crossville’s Traffic Signal Replacement Project.
