Tennessee Volunteers Are 1-0 After Win Against South Carolina

Saturday night the 16th Nationally Ranked Tennessee Volunteers went to Columbia, South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks. The Volunteers were only 9-7-2 in the State of South Carolina against the Gamecocks entering Saturday nights game. South Carolina stormed down the field on their first possession and scoring a touchdown making a 7-0 lead for the Gamecocks. Tennessee answered back with 21 straight unanswered points including a rushing touchdown by both Jarrett Guarantano and Eric Gray and the Volunteer’s linebacker Henry To’oto’o picked off USC’s quarterback taking to the house for six. The Vols stumbled with their 21-7 lead over South Carolina making the game tied late in the game 24-24. However Tennessee’s Jarrett Guarantano connected with Wide Receiver Josh Palmer for another Volunteer touchdown. The Volunteers capitalized on a late fumbled ball by the Gamecocks and held on to win the 2020 season opener. The Vols defeated South Carolina with a final score of 31-27. Tennessee will be in Knoxville this Saturday when they host the Missouri Tigers who dropped their season opener to Alabama.
