One person is dead after falling off a bluff at Fall Creek Falls State Park last weekend. Shortly after 6:30 Friday night (October 9, 2020), the Dunlap Fire Department was given a mutual aid assignment for a rope rescue at Fall Creek Falls State Park. The victim had fallen off a bluff that had a drop of over 300 feet. The victim, who was not immediately identified, did not survive the fall. Teams began a recovery operation that was completed at midnight. Investigation of the accident is being conducted by State Park Rangers and the Van Buren County Medical Examiner. Technical Resue teams from Signal Mountain Fire and Dunlap Fire assisted teams from Piney Volunteer Fire Department, Fall Creek Falls Volunteer Fire Department, Park Rangers and Van Buren EMS.
