A grand jury in Roane County returned a 42-count indictment against Michael Gray, Sr. and his wife Shirley Gray in the deaths of two of their adopted children. Their bodies were found on two different properties over the summer. WVLT reports an investigation into the couple began May 22 when the Roane County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call stating someone dropped off a boy who said he didn’t know where his parents were or where he was. That boy told investigators there was one child at his home in the basement and another child buried in the backyard. The remains of what are believed to be an 11-year-old girl were found at the home in Roane County and another body was discovered at a house in Knox County that belonged to the Gray’s adult son.
