Colorado Trucker And Passenger Injured In I-40 Accident

A Colorado truck driver and his passenger were injured in an early morning accident Wednesday on I-40 in Cumberland County. Trooper Jake Bramer reports the wreck happened shortly after midnight at the westbound 305 mile marker between Crossville and Monterey. Joe Marmolejo, age 22, of Fountain, was driving a 2018 Freightliner when he thinks he fell asleep. A witness said Marmolejo passed him and drifted off the road and crashed. The truck went through the ditch line and rolled over onto the drivers side into a group of small trees. Both Marmolejo and passenger, 27-year-old Adam Marmolejo, of Puelbo, Colorado were transported to Cumberland Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Joe Marmolejo was charged with failure to exercise due care.
