On Thursday, December 17, 2020 Tennessee saw the highest single-day increase in COVID-19 deaths adding 177 additional deaths for a statewide death toll of 5,845. There were also 8,945 new coronavirus cases, brining the states total case count to 493,230. The active cases statewide were 68,661 with 2,897 hospitalizations. The positivity rate also set a record at 21.50%.
Three more COVID-19 deaths were reported in Cumberland County on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 47. Positive cases are 3,574, up 117 from Wednesday. Active cases are 577, up 68 from Wednesday. Hospitalizations remain at 95.
100 COVID-19 deaths have been reported in Putnam County.
