The Cumberland County Board of Education voted to continue COVID leave benefits through the school year. In a special called meeting, the board unanimously approved a policy proposal to provide 80 hours of leave for staff affected by the coronavirus. This leave was previously granted under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, but that expired on December 31st and thus far has not been renewed by the federal government. The Cumberland County Board of Education will continue to offer those benefits and will consider adding additional hours if circumstances require it.
