Jeremy Pruitt has been fired as UT’s head football coach, WVLT reports.  The decision comes after a weeks-long investigation into potential recruiting violations.  Pruitt was hired as the 26th head football coach at UT in December 2017.

As word spread of Pruitt’s firing, it was announced that Phillip Fulmer plans to retire as the University of Tennessee athletic director.

Fulmer, a Hall of Fame coach, replaced John Currie as athletic director in December 2017.

Fulmer coached the Vols from 1992 to 2008 with a 152-52 overall record and led UT to the 1998 national title.

Jeremy Pruitt was fired Monday afternoon, leaving the new athletic director to hire Tennessee’s next football coach.
