Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris says the price of illegal drugs has gone up due to the pandemic.  Speaking in reference to the arrest of a Monterey couple on a host of drug related charges Sheriff Farris said, “Before COVID the price of methamphetamine was very low because the market was flooded with methamphetamine through all the popular routes such as Atlanta, GA. The price of all illicit drugs has started to go up due to more strict guidelines at the border and shipping routes because of COVID. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office will continue to track down and investigate those in this community destroying lives and the safety of this community with drugs.”  According to reports, a search of the Monterey residence of Donny and Ashley Jones netted about a kilo of methamphetamine with a street value of $80,000.  Police say the search also turned up two firearms and an undisclosed amount of cash. Donny and Ashley Jones were charged with Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Felony and Possession of Methamphetamine over 300 grams. Both had a bond totaling $300,000.
