Cumberland County’s December unemployment rate rose to 7.8%, up 2.3% from November’s rate of 5.5%. December’s jobless rate was also 2.6% higher than the previous year.
The latest jobless numbers show unemployment increased in each of Tennessee’s counties during December 2020.
Williamson County, with a rate of 4.2% for December, recorded the lowest unemployment rate among Tennessee’s 95 counties. Lake County had the state’s highest unemployment rate for the month at 10.6%.
Statewide, the preliminary, seasonally adjusted rate for December came in at 6.4%, an increase of 1.2 percentage points from November’s revised rate of 5.2%.
Nationally, unemployment held steady between November and December at 6.7%.
