A Cookeville Man was arrested Saturday night after he allegedly went on a vandalism spree in Blackberry Court. Crossville Police found 25-year-old Justin Oldham at Walmart while responding to a suspicious person call. They say Oldham matched the description of the man who caused at least $9,500 worth of damage to three cars in the area of Blackberry Court and about $2,400 worth of damage to 16 mailboxes. Several trashcans were also knocked over. Upon questioning, police say Mr. Oldham admitted to walking along Highway 70 East around the time the crime took place and even gave police precise directions to the location of the vandalism in Blackberry Court. However, police say when they drove Mr. Oldham to the crime scene and he noticed all the damage, he quickly changed his story and denied ever being in the area. Due to his describing being in the area around the same time the crime took place and the motive matching Oldham’s previous vandalism, he was placed in custody and transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center.
