A Crossville man has been arrested for Aggravated Burglary and several other charges after he was reportedly discovered trespassing at a residence in the 3000 block of Highway 127 South. A Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputy was responding to the home for a Burglary In Progress when he met the suspect’s vehicle and pulled him over. The driver, 50-year-old Johnny E. Stokes, admitted to being on the property. A search of Stokes’ truck revealed three catalytic converters that had been cut off of vehicles, two Dewalt sawzall and several sawzall blades. While searching the property authorities discovered that the exhaust pipe had been cut on a truck parked at the residence. A hacksaw, sunglasses and a lighter were also found underneath the truck. Stokes was charged with Aggravated Burglary, Criminal Trespassing, Vandalism, Attempted Theft Of Property and Driving On A Revoked License. The lighter and sunglasses found at the scene will be sent to the TBI lab for DNA testing.
