Officials have released the identity of the man who died after his boat sank Saturday afternoon on Chickamauga Lake in Meigs County. The deceased is 55-year-old Michael L. Thomas, who reportedly was not wearing a life jacket. He was pronounced dead at the scene after his 14-foot, flat bottom johnboat sank in six feet of water near the Cottonport Marina in Decatur. A second boater was able to swim to shore. The TWRA did not immediately say what caused the boat to sink.
