Olympic Softball pitcher and University of Tennessee Alum Monica Abbott adds on to her Olympic Medal collection after she and her teammates won the Silver for Team USA in Softball. Team USA ended up 5-0 in Olympic Group Stage play defeating Italy, Mexico, Canada, Australia, and Japan. The Gold Medal game was played between USA and Japan which was a rematch from the 2008 Olympic Gold Medal game in Beijing. Japan was victorious, just like in 2008, defeating Team USA 2-0. Abbott performed well in Tokyo earning 3 Wins, 2 Saves, and having 31 Strikeouts. This is Abbott’s second Olympic Medal after being awarded the Silver in 2008 in Softball. Monica Abbott’s #7 jersey was retired by UT in 2013.
