Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Win Season Opener, 90-62

Monday night the #18 Tennessee Volunteers opened up their 2021-22 basketball season against the University of Tennessee Martin Skyhawks. After going into halftime only up by 8 the Volunteers put the game away in the second half and defeated the Skyhawks of UT Martin 90-62. Tennessee also set a school record for most made 3-pointers in a game with 17.

The leading scorers for Tennessee were Santiago Vescovi and Kennedy Chandler with 20 points a piece. Justin Powell, a sophmore transfer from Auburn, put up 13 points and Olivier Nkamhoua had 11 points along with the most rebounds for Tennessee with 14.

The Volunteers will host their second game of the season in Knoxville, as they host another in-state team, the East Tennessee State Buccaneers. The Vols and Bucs will play Sunday November 14th with tip off set for 11:00 AM
