Saturday the annual I-40 Clash at Stone Memorial took place for Wrestling. The boys Wrestling teams competed in team duels in the Main Gym while the girls participated in an individual tournament in the Aux Gym. Schools including Stone Memorial, Ooltewah, Union County, Page, Riverdale, McMinn County, Hixson, Knoxville Hall, and Wayne County from Kentucky all participated in the boys duels.
The Stone Memorial Panthers boys team had a very successful run Saturday beating McMinn County 58-16, Ooltewah 54-15, Knoxville Halls 45-28, and Union County 72-6. Stone’s only loss Saturday came to Wayne falling 48-36.
Next door in the Auxiliary Gym the I-40 Clash Girls Individual Tournament was held and yet again Stone Memorial’s Wrestlers shined. The girls overall finished 3rd out of 24 teams with Jaelyn Patton placing 1st, Paige Patton placing 2nd, and Jorja Kirby and Sarah Pape placing in 3rd in their respective weight classes.
Stone will be in action on Tuesday, December 14th at 5:30 PM as they host their first home match of the season. SMHS will be hosting Livingston Academy, Upperman, and CCHS.
