State Representative Robin Smith resigned from her House Seat on Monday after being charged with Wire Fraud in an alleged conspiracy involving former House Speaker Glen Casada and his former chief of staff Cade Cothren. The Republican from Chattanooga, Tennessee is charged with Honest Services Wire Fraud, a felony that carries a maxiumum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine not more than $250,000. Smith, who represented Tennessee’s 26th District, has reportedly agreed to a plea deal and is scheduled to have a hearing Tuesday afternoon in Tennessee Federal Court in Nashville.
