Sunday afternoon the #1 Tennessee Vols took on Notre Dame in Game 3 to determine which team will punch their ticket to the College World Series in Omaha. Tennessee started hot with Luc Lipcius sending one over the fence in the bottom of the first. Heading into the 7th inning the Vols had a 3-1 lead over the Irish, however Tennessee would lose the lead after back-to-back Homeruns by Notre Dame to tie the game at 3-3. The Irish would score 3 more insurance runs in the 8th to put the Vols away 7-3. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will head to Omaha after upsetting the #1 Tennessee Vols 7-3.
Despite falling short of Omaha, Tennessee had one of the best seasons in college baseball history, setting program records in 57 wins and 158 home runs while also winning the SEC regular season and tournament titles for the first time since 1995.
