Cumberland County’s May Unemployment Increases 0.5 Percent From April

Cumberland County’s May unemployment rate rose to 4.1 percent, up 0.5 percent from April’s rate of 3.6 percent.  For the year, the jobless rate was down 0.4 percent from the May 2021 rate of 4.5 percent.

The Department of Labor and Workforce Development reports unemployment rates increased slightly during May in each of the state’s 95 counties. Even with the minimal increases, 93 of Tennessee’s 95 counties maintained rates lower than 5% for the month.

Nationally, May’s unemployment rate mirrored April’s rate of 3.6%.
