Crossville City Council

Jul 13, 2022 | 12:07 PM

In a vote that required a supermajority of at least four votes, the Crossville City Council could only muster three yes votes for a motion to seek a private act that would ask the state legislature to allow the city to have its own medical director. Dr. Mark Fox, who served as medical director for the county  EMS, was replaced by the county in April. Fox also provided services for the Crossville Fire Department, but since the city’s first responder program operates under the county director, the Municipal Technical Advisory Service says that any contracts with Dr. Fox are null and void. Council member Rob Harrison made the motion on Tuesday to draft a resolution seeking permission from state lawmakers to allow Crossville to hire its own medical director, but the motion failed. Fox could still serve as a first responder or volunteer fireman. According to council rules, the matter cannot be brought up again for 90 days.
