TN National Guard Rescues Hundreds In East KY Flooding

During a press conference Saturday, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear expressed his deep gratitude to the Tennessee National Guard which has rescued well over two hundred people in the catastrophic flooding in eastern Kentucky.  As of 11am Saturday, 25 people had lost their lives, including 4 children.

So far, the Tennessee National Guard has airlifted at least 224 people trapped by flood waters or stranded after roads were either washed away or blocked with debris.  Governor Beshear also thanked the Kentucky National Guard which has airlifted 404 people and the West Virginia National Guard which has flown out 36.   Beshear also commended the Kentucky State Police for assisting in 624 water rescues and the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlifre which has made at least 125 water rescues.
