Tennessee Football Safety Jaylen McCollough was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly assaulted a man who claims he entered an apartment where McCollough was at by mistake. Knoxville Police were called to the apartment building Sunday afternoon where they discovered a man who was bleeding and had multiple missing and broken teeth. The victim said he had been drinking with friends at the apartment complex and had gone to his car to retrieve some items. The man said he got lost on the way back and accidentally entered the wrong apartment. The victim said he realized his mistake at once, apologized and left. That’s when Jaylen McCollough allegedly began following the man and punched him, causing the victim to fall down a flight of stairs and lose consciousness. When police caught up to McCollough they say his right hand was in bandages. McCollough was read his Miranda rights and reportedly did not answer any questions. According to WVLT, McCollough was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault. The football player is in his fourth season as a starting safety for the Vols and is a captain for the team. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 18 in Knox County Felony Court.
