State Legislators And TNDP Mourn Representative Barbara Cooper

Tennessee Representative Barbara Cooper has died at the age of 93. Cooper, a Democrat, was first elected in 1996 and served for 26 years in the TN House of Representatives. She also retired as a Memphis City Schools teacher who embraced education for all and made it a top priority for herself throughout life.  Speaker Cameron Sexton posted to Twitter, “We’re incredibly saddened by the news of Rep. Barbara Cooper’s passing. She dedicated her life to serving her community & the State of Tennessee. While we lost a most revered friend & colleague, heaven has gained an angel.  Please take a moment to pray for her family & friends.”
