Despite the rainy weather over the weekend, numerous brush fires continued to burn in Middle and East Tennessee.
In Warren County, a wildfire that began on October 24 reignited on Thursday, November 4. Crews battled the blaze over the weekend. Sunday afternoon, the Tennessee Division Of Forestry website showed the fire was 80 percent contained and involved 100 acres.
In Blount County, a wildfire started when a motorcycle crashed on “The Dragon”, near the Tennessee – North Carolina state line, forcing the closure of all lanes of State Route 115. That blaze involved 40 acres and was reported 100 percent contained by around 2:30 ET Sunday afternoon.
In Sevier County, a brush fire that began on Saturday was still burning Sunday afternoon. It involved 170 acres and was 85 percent contained. Those in the area were urged to remain cautious.
In Campbell County, crews fought a 90 acre fire in Duff that was 65 percent contained Sunday afternoon.
Burn permits are required from the Tennessee Division of Forestry from mow, 2022 to May 15, 2023. To obtain a free burn permit, go online to burnsafetn.org. And always check local restrictions in your area prior to conducting any burning activity.
